How are the Risk Categories calculated in the HSEView Demand & Capacity component?
Four preliminary ‘risk categories’ have been established, using a combination of: the number of Over Target Patients, recent changes in Patients Waiting Over Target positions and the demand and capacity profile.
Risk Category 1: These specialties are the highest priority for investment to reduce backlogs and capacity/demand imbalances
Risk Category 2: These specialties are the next priority for investment, with a focus on reducing backlogs
Risk Category 3: These specialties are a lower priority for investment, with a focus on monitoring
Risk Category 4: These specialties are the lowest priority for year investment.
Analysis includes a novel logic to classify specialties at a hospital and group level into 4 preliminary ‘risk categories’ using a combination of: the number of Over Target Patients, recent changes in Patients Waiting Over Target positions and the demand and capacity profile.
