# How does SystemView work?
## SystemView is a read-only analytics platform that transforms hospital data into clear, actionable insights.
It connects to your existing hospital systems, applies logic and business rules, and visualises the results in secure, easy-to-use dashboards for clinical and operational teams.
### **Where is the data from?**
SystemView pulls data from your hospital’s existing **source systems**, such as:
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Patient Administration Systems (PAS)
- Theatre, ED, Outpatient, and Bed Management systems
> These systems feed data into your hospital's **operational data store (ODS)** or equivalent data warehouse.
SystemView connects to this secure data repository, extracts the required information, and transforms it into meaningful visuals.
**🛡️ Importantly, SystemView is view-only.** It does not write back to your hospital systems, so there’s no risk of changing, deleting, or interfering with operational data.

### **What happens next?**
Once the data is pulled:
1. **Business rules** are applied with tailored logic to ensure the data is clinically relevant and context-aware
2. **Algorithms** calculate demand, flow, risks, and projections where needed
3. The data is transformed into **interactive components**Â with tables, charts, and patient lists
4. End users access this information through a secure, password-protected **web interface**
