Activate: The purple button in the top-right corner of each tile (i.e. summary, metric, table or chart) that activates enhanced interaction and reveals additional features such as exporting, sharing and adding to Interact.

Active Streamed: The maximum number of patient treatment spaces required based on the designated LoS and the actual number of treatment spaces open for the patients presenting each hour (modelled occupany)

Actual Elective Time: The total amount of time including elective minutes in the session, minutes for early start, minutes for over run but excluding changeover.

Actual Emergency Time: The total amount of time including emergency minutes in the session, minutes for early start, minutes for over run but excluding changeover.

Actual Streamed: The actual number of patients streamed i.e Presentations per hour (arrivals)
Used in: Emergency Department
Anaesthetic Time: The amount of time from when the anaesthetic start time is recorded to when the patient is recorded as entering the operating theatre.

Australasian Triage Scale (ATS): A clinical tool used to establish the maximum waiting time for medical assessment and treatment of a patient presenting to an emergency department.

Average Length of Stay (LoS) in Area: The average amount of time spent by patients in a pod - including the waiting and treatment areas. Any recorded time spent by patients outside the pod is excluded.

Average Steam: Average number of patients streamed vs the average active streaming demand for each 30-minute segment of the day

Awaiting Ward Allocation (AWA): Patients with a pending bed request that are waiting for confirmation of the inpatient ward they will be transferred to.
Used in: Emergency Department
Booked (Beyond/To) Breach: Booked patients with waiting times not yet exceeding their target treatment date but have an appointment date that will breach their target treatment date.
Used in: Outpatients, Surgery
Booked In Time: Booked patients with an appointment date 14 days or greater before their target treatment date.

Booked Long Wait/Overdue: Booked patients that have waiting times already exceeding their target treatment date.

Booked Out of Turn: Patients that were booked out of order based on a ranking calculated from their category and target treatment date.

Booked Risk: Booked patients with an appointment date that is within 14 days of breaching their target treatment date.

Booked Undefined: Booked patients with an irregularity in the entry or sequence of dates associated with their referral or appointment (e.g. target treatment date, referral received date, etc.).

Booked in Turn: Patients that were booked in order based on a ranking calculated from their category and target treatment date.

Booking (Wait) Group: Group that defines whether a patient is booked, unbooked, at risk, in time and/or beyond breach.
Used in: Outpatients, Surgery
Booking Status: Status that defines whether a patient is currently booked or unbooked.
Used in: Outpatients, Surgery
Category: The clinical urgency and recommended timeframe for consultation or treatment assigned to a patient. Categories and timeframes may differ between jurisdictions.

Census: The cut-off date or time a count or record of the relevant data is completed (e.g. midnight).

Clinical Risk: Patients with a length of stay in the emergency department at or exceeding 8 hours.

Complex Patient: A patient that has been recorded as a Complex Discharge in the Admitted Patient Register.
Used in: Beds
Complex Patient Escalation List: A list of Complex Patients that have been recorded in the Complex Patient Register as requiring elevation to the Escalation List.

Component: A detailed page within SystemView that contains specialised charts, information and analysis.

Conversion to Elective Surgery: The percentage of productive appointments that have generated an addition to an elective surgery waiting list as identified in the outpatient source system.

Current Open & Available Beds: The total number of open and operating beds within an inpatient location. This value can be adjusted in the Bed Capacity Monitor in response to operational demands and constraints (e.g., extra activity, staffing impacts, etc.).

Daisy Chain: The core navigation tool in Explore that provides a methodical and structured approach to exploring the information available within SystemView.

Division: A directorate or branch within an overarching organisation or facility.
Used in: Beds
Domain: A key clinical area within the SystemView platform (e.g., Outpatients, Beds, Surgery and Emergency Department).

Early Finish: A session where the last case in the operating theatre exits more than 45 minutes before the scheduled session finish time.
Used in: Surgery
Episode of Care Length of Stay (LoS): The length of stay for an inpatient on the current episode of care type (e.g. acute, maintenance, etc.). This is calculated as the time the current care type was started up until the most recent data refresh.

Episode of Care Type: A categorisation that defines the care type recorded for an inpatient (e.g. acute, rehabilitation, maintenance, etc.).

Expected Presentations: The forecasted number of presentations based on the day of the week and current season, utilising 2 years of historical data.

Explore: The area of SystemView that allows users to navigate through different domains, components and levels of analyses through the daisy chain.

Flow Category: Category that defines whether an inpatient is staying less than, more than or double the desired length of stay required to maintain continuous patient flow (Flow LoS) on an individual ward.
Used in: Beds
Flow Length of Stay (LoS) in Beds: A calculation based on the open capacity of an individual ward relative to the number of admissions expected for that weekday. This calculation assists in identifying patients who have lengths of stay greater than what is required for the ward to maintain patient flow. Outlier patients are not included in the calculation of Flow LoS.

Flow Length of Stay (LoS) in ED: A calculation based on the number of treatment spaces and total available processing hours relative to a treatment area's demand. This calculation expresses what the required LoS should be in order to maintain the flow in each area.

Funded Capacity: The total number of funded beds for an inpatient location. This number can be adjusted in the Bed Capacity Monitor.

High Frequency Review: Patients with a history of multiple productive review appointments over the last 2 years.

ICD: International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD).

Improve: An activation feature that allows the setup of improvement targets and notifications on key series within charts. These are saved for access and modification within MyView.

Interact: The area of SystemView that can be personalised and configured with saved charts, lists and information as well as shortcuts to any analysis you have activated.

Late Finish: A session where the last case in the operating theatre exits more than 30 minutes after the scheduled session finish time.

Late Start: A session where the first case in the operating theatre starts 1 minute or more after the scheduled session start time.

Length of Stay (LoS) Breach: Patients with a length of stay in the emergency department at or exceeding 4 hours.

Length of Stay (LoS) Breach Risk: Patients with a length of stay in the emergency department within 1 hour of breaching.

Long Wait: Patients with a current waiting time already exceeding their target treatment date (overdue).

Longest Total (Length of Stay) LoS: The single patient with the longest total length of stay in the facility.
Used in: Beds
Longest Waiting Patient: The single patient with the longest waiting time from the current list that is filtered or selected.

Maximum Wait Days: The least number of days taken for a patient to be seen.
Used in: Outpatients
Minimum Wait Days: The most number of days taken for a patient to be seen.
Used in: Outpatients
Monitor: An activation feature that allows the setup of monitoring triggers and notifications on key series within charts. These are saved for access and modification within MyView.

MyHub: A section within Interact that stores hub pages created by the current user as well as shared from other SystemView users. Hub pages can be customised with summaries, metrics, charts and tables from throughout SystemView.

MyLists: A section within Interact that stores workbooks of patient tables and lists. Up to 12 customised patient lists can be collected in each workbook and exported to Microsoft Excel.

MyProjects: A section within Interact that stores projects. Up to 12 charts can be collected in each project and exported to Microsoft PowerPoint.

MyView: A section within Interact that stores and displays Watch, Monitor and Improve charts that have been activated from the Explore area.

NEAT Breach: Patients with a length of stay in the emergency department exceeding the NEAT of 4 hours.
Used in: Emergency Department
National Emergency Access Target (NEAT): An Australian target introduced in 2011 that stipulated a pre-determined proportion of patients should be admitted, discharged or transferred from the emergency department within 4 hours of presentation.

Next To Come In (TCI): Patients that have been streamed and are expected to arrive.
Used in: Emergency Department
Nominal Wait Maximum: The amount of patients that can be accommodated on each elective surgery waiting list and treated within clinically recommended timeframes. This is calculated using historical average monthly removal rates including productive activity and removals other than treatment.

Non-Reportable Clinic Type: Clinics with non-specialist outpatient services (e.g., allied health). Metrics are not reportable to the Department of Health.

Not Ready for Care (NRFC): Patients marked as not ready due to personal, medical or logistical reasons (e.g. on holidays, currently unwell, requires a staged appointment).

Not Ready for Surgery (NRFS): Patients marked as not ready due to personal, medical or logistical reasons (e.g. on holidays, currently unwell, requires a staged appointment).

Other Time: The amount of time within a theatre session that is outside of wheels in and wheels out (e.g., late start, early finish, changeover time, etc.).
Used in: Surgery
Out of Catchment: Patients with a residential postcode outside the catchment area of the facility.

Outlier: Patients admitted to an inpatient ward who are under the care of a specialty that does not usually admit to that ward.
Used in: Beds
Overdue: Patients with a current waiting time already exceeding their target treatment date.
Used in: Outpatients, Surgery
POST Breach: Patients waiting longer than 30 minutes to be transferred off the ambulance stretcher and into an emergency department treatment space.
Used in: Emergency Department
POST Completion: The percentage of ambulance episodes of care that have not been completed in the ambulance source system.
Used in: Emergency Department
Passive Bed: Inpatients with a ward length of stay that is at or more than double that required for the individual ward to maintain patient flow (Flow LoS). These patients may require complex care management to facilitate treatment and discharge.

Passive Bed Risk: Inpatients with a ward length of stay above but less than double that required for the individual ward to maintain patient flow (Flow LoS). These patients may benefit from a greater focus on managing their treatment and discharge planning.

Patient Off Stretcher Time (POST): A key performance indicator outlining the time taken from an ambulance's arrival at an emergency department to when the patient is transferred off the ambulance stretcher. This metric is produced using data from ambulance source systems.

Patient Waiting in Time (for Admission): Patients that have been waiting under 1 hour for admission to an inpatient ward from the emergency department.
Used in: Emergency Department
Patients Waiting to be Seen: Patients that are waiting to be seen by a clinician (e.g. nurse practitioner, physiotherapist, doctor, etc.) in the emergency department.
Used in: Emergency Department
Patients With LoS < Flow LoS: Inpatients with a ward length of stay that is less than that required for the individual ward to maintain patient flow (Flow LoS).

Patients in Operating Room (OR): The amount of time from a patients arrival to their departure from an operating room/theatre.
Used in: Surgery
Patients to be Seen by a Doctor: Patients that are waiting to be seen by a doctor in the emergency department.
Used in: Emergency Department
Physical Ward: An inpatient ward with beds that are physically located within the facility.
Used in: Beds
Pod: A group of treatment spaces in the Emergency Department that may also be referred to as a treatment zone or treatment area (e.g. Minors).
Used in: Emergency Department
Processing Time: The amount of time taken by the team accountable for a particular segment of a patient journey through the emergency department.
Used in: Emergency Department
Productive Appointment: An appointment where a patient has been registered in the source system as having attended and departed the session, or checked in and checked out for that visit.
Used in: Outpatients
ROH30: The percentage risk of patient readmission within 30 days based on a patient's Risk of Hospitalisation (ROH) calculation.

ROH60: The percentage risk of patient readmission within 60 days based on a patient's Risk of Hospitalisation (ROH) calculation.

Removals Other Than Treatment (ROTT): Patients removed from waiting list without receiving clinical intervention (e.g. no longer requiring care, relocated to another area, etc.).

Reportable Clinic Type: Clinics with specialist outpatient services (e.g., medical, surgical). Metrics are reportable to the Department of Health.

Request List: The requested specialty or subspecialty waitlist patient is assigned to.

Risk of Hospitalisation (ROH): An algorithmic calculation of a patient's risk of readmission based on variables including their age, time since previous inpatient admission, length of stay, residential status (in or out of catchment) as well as the number of inpatient admissions, ED presentations and outpatient appointments within the last 12 months.

Scheduled Overdue: Booked patients that have waiting times already exceeding their target treatment date.

Scheduled Undefined: Often patients with a past appointment date that is still pending, that has not been attended or actioned.

Scheduled to Breach: Booked patients with waiting times not yet exceeding their target treatment date but have an appointment date that will breach their target treatment date.

Seen in Time: Patients seen within the clinically recommended timeframe per the ATS score for their presentation.

Session Type: The funding type of the theatre session (e.g. public, private, intermediate, etc.).

SharedLists: A section within Interact that stores workbooks of patient tables shared from other SystemView users.

SharedProjects: A section within Interact that stores projects shared from other SystemView users.

Special Purpose Bed: Inpatient area with beds that can only admit a specific inpatient cohort (e.g., paediatric, maternity, etc.).

Special Purpose MH Bed: Inpatient mental health area with beds that can only admit a specific inpatient mental health cohort (e.g., psychiatric ICU).

Standard Bed: Inpatient area with beds that can admit standard inpatients including outliers from other specialties.

Standard MH Bed: Inpatient mental health area with beds that can admit standard mental health inpatients.

Stay Length: The length of stay expected for patients planned to come in from a scheduled care pathway.

Stay Type: The type of admission planned for patients on a scheduled care pathway (e.g. overnight, day surgery, longer than overnight stay).

Streaming Demand - Maximum Active: The total number of treatment spaces required per day for each pod to accommodate the forecasted streaming demand.
Used in: Emergency Department
Streaming Demand - Peak: The maximum number of treatment spaces needed within each pod over the past 6 weeks.

Theatre Utilisation: The percentage of time an operating theatre is occupied by patients compared to the original elective schedule.
Used in: Surgery
Timely Risk: Booked patients with an appointment date that is within 14 days of breaching their target treatment date.
Used in: Outpatients, Surgery
Timely Scheduled: Booked patients with an appointment date 14 days or greater before their target treatment date.

To Come In (TCI): Patients on a scheduled and planned care pathway who are booked for admission from theatre to the current ward.

Total (Length of Stay) LoS: The cumulative length of stay for an inpatient across all inpatient wards in the facility. This is calculated as the time from admission to their first inpatient ward up until the most recent data refresh.

Treated & In Transit: Patients that have been treated and are being returned to the emergency department waiting room.
Used in: Emergency Department
Treated Out of Turn: Patients that were treated out of order based on a ranking calculated from their category and target treatment date.

Treated in Turn: Patients that were treated in order based on a ranking calculated from their category and target treatment date.

Treatment Area: A group of treatment spaces that is also referred to as a treatment zone or pod (e.g. Minors).

Treatment Pathway: The stage of the patient’s episode of care they have progressed to within the emergency department (e.g., Waiting, Treatment, Observation, etc.).

Treatment Space: A single bed, trolley or room location in the emergency department (e.g. Minors 01).

Ultra Long Wait: Patients under any categorisation with a waiting time greater than 2 years or 730 days for Outpatients; and 18 months or 547 days for Surgery.

Unbooked: Unbooked patients with 28 days or greater until their target treatment date.
Used in: Outpatients, Surgery
Unbooked Long Wait: Unbooked patients with waiting times already exceeding their target treatment date. These patients need to be booked as a priority to prevent any clinical risk or deterioration in condition.

Unbooked Risk: Unbooked patients within 28 days of breaching their target treatment date.

Virtual Ward: A location where patients can be admitted to under the care of the facility, that is not physically located within the facility (e.g. hospital in the home).

Wait Days: The number of days taken for patients to be seen, exclusive of any period marked as not ready for care in the outpatient source system.

Ward (Length of Stay) LoS: The length of stay for an inpatient on an individual inpatient ward. This is calculated as the time from arrival to the inpatient ward up until the most recent data refresh.

Watch: An activation feature that allows charts to be saved for quick access and observation within MyView.
