What does Episode of Care Type mean?
An episode of care type is a care type the patient receives as an inpatient. Most patients start as 'acute' when they are admitted and acutely unwell, however overtime their care type might change if they are in hospital for an extended time.
Episode of care categories include 'acute', 'sub-acute' and 'non-acute'. Episode of care types include Acute, Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, Geriatric Care and Maintenance.
