What is an Outlier?

An outlier is a patient that is admitted into an inpatient ward who is under the care of a specialty that does not usually admit to that ward. E.g. If a patient is admitted to the orthopaedics ward, however is being treated by Endocrinology.

Outliers can be both within a ward (Endocrinology patient within the Orthopaedics ward) and also outside of the ward (Endocrinology patient outside of their Endocrinology ward).
