How is the Nominal Wait Max calculated?

The Nominal Waitlist Maximum uses historical data - both the activity as well as removals other than treatment - to calculate the maximum number of patients that a doctor can have on their waiting list.

The calculation uses the historical average monthly removal rates for each doctor at each category.

  • For category 1 patients, the nominal maximum waiting list is the same as the average monthly removal rate as all patients need to be treated within 30 days.
  • For category 2 patients - as all patients need to be treated within 90 days - the nominal maximum waiting list is the average monthly removal rate multiplied by three.
  • For category 3 patients - as all patients need to be treated within 12 months (365 days) - the nominal maximum waiting list is the average monthly removal rate multiplied by twelve.
