What it is
The Future Booked Reviews component provides a combined view of historical and future outpatient review appointment activity.
It helps services visualise how many review appointments have occurred in the past 12 months and how many are already booked ahead - with drilldowns down to the doctor and patient level.
Why it matters
Track review demand and plan for follow-up capacity.
- Identify review volume trends over the past 12 months.
- Anticipate upcoming review workload by week and by doctor.
- Explore which patients have repeat reviews and how often they reattend.
- Access current and historical patient-level details to support clinical and admin planning.
How to use it
Filter to focus your view
Use the filters to refine your view by:
- Specialty: Focus on a specific specialty.
- Doctor: View review activity for a particular clinician or resource.
- Appointment mode: Distinguish between in-person, telehealth, or other modes.
💡Tip: You can drill down even further to a specific week or patient by interacting with the charts in this component.
Explore review activity and bookings
The component opens with a historical trend chart, showing the total number of review appointments completed in the last 52 weeks. Next to this, the future booked reviews chart displays the total volume of review appointments scheduled for upcoming dates.
Scrolling further, you’ll see a breakdown by doctor, revealing how future bookings are distributed across clinicians.
Selecting a doctor, either directly from this chart or using the filters, updates the chart to the right, which projects the next 13 weeks of bookings for that clinician.
Each bar in this chart is colour-coded to show how many previous reviews each patient has already had, helping you understand follow-up intensity and potential re-attendance patterns.
💡Tip: Click on a week in the Booked Review Appointments by Week to open patient-level details for that specific week.
Explore patient-level insights
You can drill down from aggregated data to individual patients:
- Click a week in the weekly review volume chart to open a patient list for that period.
- Each patient record shows their appointment date, clinic, doctor, and result of the appointment.
- Selecting a patient in this list populates the table below and lets you view their entire review appointment history - including all previous appointment dates and outcomes.
Alternatively, select the Patient List button to view all patients with upcoming review appointments in one table, exportable to Excel for further analysis
💡 Tip: You can export the patient lists to Excel for further analysis or record keeping.
See how to do this in the article: How to export from SystemView.

Charts are updated daily, showing historical trends and forward bookings based on current scheduling data.
How it helps you
- Plan upcoming workload: Forecast clinic and doctor review demand weeks ahead.
- Identify follow-up patterns: See how often patients are re-booked for review amongst different specialties and doctors.
- Spot booking pressure: Locate doctors or clinics with high review load in future weeks.
- Validate scheduling accuracy: Cross-check booked reviews against expected follow-up activity.
- Support data quality: Patient-level lists help confirm records align with actual activity.
