In this article:
What it is
The High Frequency Reviews component provides a list of patients who have an upcoming review appointment within the next 13 weeks, highlighting those with a high number of reviews over the past two years to help identify patients who may be receiving more frequent follow-ups than clinically required.
Why it matters
Streamline follow-ups and free capacity for new patients.
By reviewing and auditing high-frequency review patients, hospitals can:
- Identify opportunities for discharge or longer review intervals.
- Reduce unnecessary bookings and improve clinic flow.
- Optimise resources time for new and priority patients.
- Support sustainable outpatient demand management.
How to use it
Filter to focus your view
Use the filters to refine your view by:
- Specialty: Select the specialty to view all high-frequency review patients within that service.
- Doctor: Narrow results to a specific clinician or resource patient list.
- Appointment mode: Distinguish between in-person, telehealth, or other modes.
💡Tip: You can drill down even further to a specific week or patient by interacting with the charts in this component.
Review high-frequency patients
The component displays two tables:
Table | What it shows |
High Frequency Review Patients | A patient-level list of all individuals with review appointments booked in the next 13 weeks. The list is ordered by the total number of review appointments the patient has had in the past two years. |
Patient Appointment History | When you click on a patient in the first table, this second table appears, showing their complete appointment history within the selected specialty. |
💡 Tip: You can export the patient lists to Excel for further analysis or auditing purposes.
See how to do this in the article: How to export from SystemView.
How it works
SystemView identifies all patients with future review appointments scheduled within 13 weeks. It then counts each patient’s total review appointments from the past two years and ranks the list accordingly. Selecting a patient dynamically generates their historical record in the lower table.
This view allows quick auditing of both individual review histories and broader patterns across specialties and doctors.
How it helps you
- Audit review practices: Instantly see which patients have had a large amount of reviews.
- Optimise clinic capacity: Discover patients who may be suitable for discharge or longer intervals.
- Inform service redesign: Identify trends in over-reviewing to improve scheduling efficiency.
- Reduce administrative burden: Conduct comprehensive audits with minimal clicks.
- Support proactive management: Export data for specialty-level review planning.
